The Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC), Holcomb Bank, and 102.3 The Coyote will host the 15th Annual Vein Drain Blood Drive from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at Holcomb Bank, 233 E. Illinois Route 38, Rochelle.

Donors will receive a T-shirt (while supplies last) and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $500 gift card. Hazel’s Cafe Coffee Truck will serve up coffee at 8 a.m., followed by Headons On-the-Go food truck at 12 p.m.

“We are truly grateful for the steadfast dedication of Holcomb Bank and 102.3 The Coyote in organizing this annual drive year after year,” said Heidi Ognibene, COO of the Rock River Valley Blood Center. “This event highlights the incredible strength of our community, providing life-saving blood to the 14 regional hospitals we serve, including Rochelle Community Hospital.”

Donating blood is simple; one unit can save up to three lives. After registering, a donor care specialist will take your vitals (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and hemoglobin), you’ll complete an eligibility questionnaire, and then sit back and relax while you give. The donation itself only lasts about 10 minutes. Refreshments await after you’re done donating.

If you’re a first-time donor, please bring a photo ID. Individuals can donate a single unit (whole blood donation, the most common type) every 56 days.

Donors can make appointments online by clicking here, by calling 815-965-8751 or using the myRRVBC app. Walk-ins will also be welcome.
